CVE-2015-8338

CVSS v2.0

7.2

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Xen versions 4.6.x and earlier
Description The issue is related to the improper enforcement of limits on page order inputs for certain suboperations, including XENMEM increase reservation, XENMEM populate physmap, and XENMEM exchange, within the HYPERVISOR memory op hypercall. This can be exploited by ARM guest OS administrators to cause a denial of service, potentially leading to CPU consumption, guest reboot, or watchdog timeout and host reboot. The exploitation may also have unspecified other impacts.
Recommendations For Xen versions 4.6.x and earlier, as a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the HYPERVISOR memory op suboperations until a patch is available. Specifically, limiting the XENMEM increase reservation, XENMEM populate physmap, and XENMEM exchange suboperations can help minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
