High
| Vector | AV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Apple OS X versions prior to 10.11.2
Description
The issue is related to insufficient access control to certain functions in the Mac OS X operating system kernel. It allows a local attacker to exploit the weakness and potentially gain elevated privileges. The problem is specifically tied to how kernel extensions are loaded, which can be mishandled by kext tools.
Recommendations
For Apple OS X versions prior to 10.11.2, update to version 10.11.2 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to kernel-extension loading mechanisms to minimize the risk of exploitation.
