CVSS v2.0
5.0
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Apple iOS versions prior to 8.1.3
Apple OS X versions prior to 10.10.2
Apple TV versions prior to 7.0.3
Description
The issue concerns the extension APIs in the kernel, which fail to prevent the presence of addresses within an
OSBundleMachOHeaders key in a response. This makes it easier for attackers to bypass the Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR) protection mechanism by using a crafted app. ASLR is a security feature that randomizes the location of executable code and data in memory to prevent attackers from predicting where certain code or data will be located, making it harder to exploit vulnerabilities.Recommendations
For Apple iOS versions prior to 8.1.3, update to version 8.1.3 or later.
For Apple OS X versions prior to 10.10.2, update to version 10.10.2 or later.
For Apple TV versions prior to 7.0.3, update to version 7.0.3 or later.
