CVE-2014-9423

CVSS v2.0

5.0

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions MIT Kerberos 5 (krb5) versions 1.11.x through 1.11.5 MIT Kerberos 5 (krb5) versions 1.12.x through 1.12.2 MIT Kerberos 5 (krb5) versions 1.13.x prior to 1.13.1
Description The issue allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information from process heap memory by sniffing the network for data in a handle field. This is due to the svcauth gss accept sec context function transmitting uninitialized interposer data to clients.
Recommendations For versions 1.11.x through 1.11.5, update to version 1.11.6 or later. For versions 1.12.x through 1.12.2, update to version 1.12.3 or later. For versions 1.13.x prior to 1.13.1, update to version 1.13.1 or later. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the svcauth gss accept sec context function until a patch is available.
