CVE-2014-9750
CVSS v2.0
5.8
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
NTP versions prior to 4.2.8p1
Description
The issue allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information from process memory or cause a denial of service (daemon crash) via a packet containing an extension field with an invalid value for the length of its value field, when Autokey Authentication is enabled.
Recommendations
For versions prior to 4.2.8p1, update to version 4.2.8p1 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling Autokey Authentication until a patch is available. Restrict access to the ntpd service to minimize the risk of exploitation.
