Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
NetIQ Security Solutions for iSeries version 8.1
Description
The issue is related to multiple stack-based buffer overflows in the SafeShellExecute method of the NetIQExecObject.NetIQExec.1 ActiveX control in NetIQExec.dll. This allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via long arguments.
Recommendations
For NetIQ Security Solutions for iSeries version 8.1, consider disabling the SafeShellExecute method in the NetIQExecObject.NetIQExec.1 ActiveX control as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the NetIQExec.dll to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
