CVSS v2.0

5.0

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions tcpdump versions prior to 4.7.2
Description The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in an out-of-bounds read and crash. This can be achieved via a crafted length, offset, or base pointer checksum value in the osi print cksum function.
Recommendations For versions prior to 4.7.2, update to version 4.7.2 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the ethernet printer functionality until the update is applied.
