CVE-2015-3417

CVSS v2.0

6.8

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions FFmpeg versions prior to 2.3.6
Description A use-after-free issue exists in the ff h264 free tables function, allowing remote attackers to potentially cause a denial of service or have other unspecified impacts through crafted H.264 data in an MP4 file. This can be demonstrated using an HTML VIDEO element referencing the malicious H.264 data.
Recommendations For versions prior to 2.3.6, update to version 2.3.6 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the ff h264 free tables function until a patch is applied. Avoid using crafted H.264 data in MP4 files to minimize the risk of exploitation.
