CVE-2015-3906

CVSS v2.0

5.0

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Wireshark versions 1.12.x through 1.12.4
Description The issue arises from the logcat dump text function in wiretap/logcat.c, which is part of the Android Logcat file parser in Wireshark. This function does not properly handle a lack of 0 termination, allowing remote attackers to cause a denial of service. This can be achieved by sending a crafted message in a packet, resulting in an out-of-bounds read and application crash.
Recommendations For Wireshark versions 1.12.x through 1.12.4, update to version 1.12.5 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the logcat dump text function in wiretap/logcat.c until a patch is available.
