CVE-2015-5225

CVSS v2.0

7.2

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions QEMU versions prior to 2.4.0.1
Description The issue is related to a buffer overflow in the vnc refresh server surface function within the VNC display driver. This allows guest users to potentially cause a denial of service, resulting in heap memory corruption and a process crash, or possibly execute arbitrary code on the host. The issue is related to the refreshing of the server display surface.
Recommendations For QEMU versions prior to 2.4.0.1, update to version 2.4.0.1 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the VNC display driver until a patch is available. Restrict access to the VNC display driver to minimize the risk of exploitation.
