CVE-2015-5283

CVSS v2.0

4.7

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 4.2.3
Description The issue is related to an incorrect sequence of protocol-initialization steps in the sctp init function, which can cause a denial of service, resulting in a panic or memory corruption. This can be triggered by local users creating SCTP sockets before the initialization steps have completed.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions prior to 4.2.3, update to version 4.2.3 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the creation of SCTP sockets until the initialization steps have finished.
