CVE-2015-5621

CVSS v3.1

7.5

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions net-snmp versions 5.7.2 and earlier
Description The issue is related to the snmp pdu parse function in snmp api.c, which does not properly remove the varBind variable from a netsnmp variable list item when parsing of the SNMP PDU fails. This can be exploited by remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted packet.
Recommendations For net-snmp versions 5.7.2 and earlier, consider disabling the snmp pdu parse function until a patch is available to prevent potential exploitation. Restrict access to the snmp api.c module to minimize the risk of a denial of service or arbitrary code execution. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
