Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Cisco Email Security Appliance (ESA) versions 7.6.0 through 8.0.0
Description
The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, potentially resulting in memory overwrite or service outage, by including format string specifiers in an HTTP request.
Recommendations
For versions 7.6.0 through 8.0.0, consider restricting access to HTTP requests until a fix is available. As a temporary workaround, limiting the use of format string specifiers in HTTP requests may help minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
Fix
Use of Externally-Controlled Format String
