CVE-2015-6973

CVSS v2.0

6.8

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Openfire version 3.10.2
Description The issue allows remote attackers to hijack the authentication of administrators for various requests. This can be achieved through multiple cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerabilities. Specifically, attackers can change a password via a crafted request to "user-password.jsp", add users via a crafted request to "user-create.jsp", edit server settings or disable SSL on the server via a crafted request to "server-props.jsp", or add clients via a crafted request to "plugins/clientcontrol/permitted-clients.jsp".
Recommendations For Openfire version 3.10.2, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling access to the "user-password.jsp", "user-create.jsp", "server-props.jsp", and "plugins/clientcontrol/permitted-clients.jsp" pages until a patch is available. Restrict access to these pages to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using these pages in the affected API endpoints until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
