CVE-2015-7970

CVSS v2.0

4.9

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Xen versions 3.4.x through 3.6.x
Description The issue is related to the p2m pod emergency sweep function in Xen, which is not preemptible. This allows local x86 HVM guest administrators to cause a denial of service by consuming CPU resources and possibly triggering a reboot. The denial of service is caused by crafted memory contents that trigger a "time-consuming linear scan" related to Populate-on-Demand.
Recommendations For Xen versions 3.4.x through 3.6.x, consider restricting access to the p2m pod emergency sweep function as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
