Description The issue concerns the mishandling of certain repeated conditional groups in regular expressions, which can be exploited by remote attackers to cause a denial of service (buffer overflow) or possibly have other unspecified impacts. This can be achieved through a crafted regular expression, as demonstrated by a JavaScript RegExp object encountered by Konqueror.
Recommendations For PCRE versions prior to 8.38, update to version 8.38 or later to resolve the issue.
