CVSS v2.0
7.5
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
PCRE versions prior to 8.38
Description
The issue concerns the mishandling of
(123) subroutine calls and related subroutine calls in regular expressions. This allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, specifically an integer overflow, or possibly have other unspecified impacts through a crafted regular expression. An example of this issue was demonstrated by a JavaScript RegExp object encountered by Konqueror.Recommendations
For PCRE versions prior to 8.38, update to version 8.38 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of subroutine calls in regular expressions to minimize the risk of exploitation.
