CVE-2015-8388

CVSS v2.0

7.5

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions PCRE versions prior to 8.38
Description The issue concerns the mishandling of certain patterns, such as /(?=di(?<=(?1))|(?=(.))))/, which contain an unmatched closing parenthesis. This allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, potentially leading to a buffer overflow, or possibly have other unspecified impacts through a crafted regular expression. This has been demonstrated using a JavaScript RegExp object encountered by Konqueror.
Recommendations For versions prior to 8.38, update to version 8.38 or later to resolve the issue.
