Description The issue is related to errors in the code of the MySQL database management system, specifically in the Server: DML subcomponent. It can be exploited by a remote attacker to cause the operating system to hang or crash. The vulnerability affects the availability of the system and can be exploited via network packets. It is reported that a remote authenticated user can affect the availability of the system through vectors related to DML.
Recommendations For Oracle MySQL versions 5.6.27 and earlier, update to a version later than 5.6.27 to resolve the issue. For Oracle MySQL versions 5.7.9 and earlier, update to a version later than 5.7.9 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting network access to the MySQL Server to minimize the risk of exploitation.
