CVSS v2.0
2.8
Low
| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:M/C:N/I:N/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Oracle MySQL versions 5.6.27 and earlier
Oracle MySQL versions 5.7.9 and earlier
Description
The issue is related to errors in the code of the replication component in the MySQL database management system. It allows a remote attacker to cause a hang or, in some cases, a crash of the system by sending network packets. The vulnerability can be exploited by a high-privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols, resulting in the ability to cause a denial of service (DOS) of the MySQL Server.
Recommendations
For Oracle MySQL versions 5.6.27 and earlier, update to a version later than 5.6.27 to resolve the issue.
For Oracle MySQL versions 5.7.9 and earlier, update to a version later than 5.7.9 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the replication component to minimize the risk of exploitation.
