CVE-2016-1613

CVSS v3.1

7.6

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Google Chrome versions prior to 48.0.2564.82 Opera (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to multiple use-after-free vulnerabilities in the formfiller implementation in PDFium, used in Google Chrome and Opera. These vulnerabilities can be exploited by a remote attacker using a specially crafted PDF document, potentially causing a denial of service or other unspecified impact. The vulnerabilities are related to improper tracking of the destruction of IPWL FocusHandler and IPWL Provider objects.
Recommendations For Google Chrome versions prior to 48.0.2564.82, update to version 48.0.2564.82 or later to resolve the issue. For Opera, at the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability. As a temporary workaround, consider avoiding the use of PDF documents from untrusted sources until a patch is available. Restrict access to PDFium to minimize the risk of exploitation.
