Description
The issue is related to errors in loading libraries, allowing local users to gain privileges via a crafted application. An attacker could exploit this to take control of an affected system, then install programs, view, change, or delete data, or create new accounts with full user rights. Users with fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than those operating with administrative user rights. To exploit the issue, an attacker would first have to log on to the target system.
Recommendations
For Microsoft Windows Vista SP2, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk.
For Microsoft Windows Server 2008 SP2 and R2 SP1, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk.
For Microsoft Windows 7 SP1, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk.
For Microsoft Windows 8.1, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk.
For Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Gold and R2, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk.
For Microsoft Windows RT 8.1, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk.
