Description
The issue is related to errors in the code of the MySQL database management system, specifically in the Security: Privileges component. It allows a remote attacker to compromise the availability of the system by affecting the server. The vulnerability can be exploited by a high-privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols, resulting in the ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of the MySQL Server.
Recommendations
For Oracle MySQL versions 5.5.48 and earlier, update to a version later than 5.5.48.
For Oracle MySQL versions 5.6.29 and earlier, update to a version later than 5.6.29.
For Oracle MySQL versions 5.7.11 and earlier, update to a version later than 5.7.11.
For MariaDB versions prior to 5.5.49, update to version 5.5.49 or later.
