CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Oracle MySQL versions 5.6.28 and earlier Oracle MySQL versions 5.7.10 and earlier
Description The issue is related to errors in the code of the MySQL database management system, specifically in the Security: Encryption component. It allows an attacker to affect the availability of the system. The vulnerability can be exploited by a high-privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols, potentially resulting in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash of the MySQL Server.
Recommendations For Oracle MySQL versions 5.6.28 and earlier, update to a version later than 5.6.28 to resolve the issue. For Oracle MySQL versions 5.7.10 and earlier, update to a version later than 5.7.10 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Security: Encryption component until a patch is available.
