Description
The issue is related to errors in the code of the MySQL database management system. It allows an attacker to affect availability by exploiting vectors related to the DML server. This can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash of the MySQL Server, leading to a denial of service. The vulnerability can be exploited by a high-privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols.
Recommendations
For Oracle MySQL versions 5.5.47 and earlier, update to a version later than 5.5.47.
For Oracle MySQL versions 5.6.28 and earlier, update to a version later than 5.6.28.
For Oracle MySQL versions 5.7.10 and earlier, update to a version later than 5.7.10.
For MariaDB versions prior to 5.5.48, update to version 5.5.48 or later.
For MariaDB versions 10.0.x prior to 10.0.24, update to version 10.0.24 or later.
For MariaDB versions 10.1.x prior to 10.1.12, update to version 10.1.12 or later.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the DML server to minimize the risk of exploitation.
