CVSS v3.1

10

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Oracle MySQL versions 5.6.29 and earlier Oracle MySQL versions 5.7.11 and earlier
Description The issue is related to errors in the code of the MySQL database management system, specifically in the Pluggable Authentication component. It allows remote attackers to affect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information. Successful attacks can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash of the MySQL Server.
Recommendations For Oracle MySQL versions 5.6.29 and earlier, update to a version later than 5.6.29 to resolve the issue. For Oracle MySQL versions 5.7.11 and earlier, update to a version later than 5.7.11 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Pluggable Authentication component to minimize the risk of exploitation.
