CVE-2016-1697

CVSS v3.1

8.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Google Chrome versions prior to 51.0.2704.79 Opera versions prior to 51.0.2704.79
Description The issue is related to the FrameLoader::startLoad function in WebKit/Source/core/loader/FrameLoader.cpp in Blink, which does not prevent frame navigations during DocumentLoader detach operations. This allows remote attackers to bypass the Same Origin Policy via crafted JavaScript code.
Recommendations For Google Chrome versions prior to 51.0.2704.79, update to version 51.0.2704.79 or later to resolve the issue. For Opera versions prior to 51.0.2704.79, update to version 51.0.2704.79 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the FrameLoader::startLoad function until a patch is available.
