CVE-2016-1693

CVSS v3.1

5.3

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Google Chrome versions prior to 51.0.2704.63 Opera (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue concerns the browser/safe browsing/srt field trial win.cc component in Google Chrome, which does not use the HTTPS protocol for the dl.google.com service when obtaining the Software Removal Tool. This allows remote attackers to spoof the chrome cleanup tool.exe file via a man-in-the-middle attack on an HTTP session.
Recommendations For Google Chrome versions prior to 51.0.2704.63, update to version 51.0.2704.63 or later to resolve the issue. For Opera, at the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
