CVE-2016-1683

CVSS v3.1

7.5

High

VectorAV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions libxslt versions prior to 1.1.29 Google Chrome versions prior to 51.0.2704.63
Description The issue is related to errors in namespace handling in the libxslt library, specifically in the numbers.c file. This can be exploited by a remote attacker using a specially crafted document, potentially leading to a denial of service or other unspecified impacts due to out-of-bounds heap memory access.
Recommendations For libxslt versions prior to 1.1.29, update to version 1.1.29 or later to resolve the issue. For Google Chrome versions prior to 51.0.2704.63, update to version 51.0.2704.63 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of specially crafted documents to minimize the risk of exploitation.
