CVE-2016-1678

CVSS v3.1

8.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Google V8 versions prior to 5.0.71.32 Google Chrome versions prior to 51.0.2704.63
Description The issue is caused by improper restrictions on lazy deoptimization in the objects.cc component of the V8 engine. This allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, specifically a heap-based buffer overflow, or possibly have other unspecified impacts by using crafted JavaScript code.
Recommendations For Google V8 versions prior to 5.0.71.32, update to version 5.0.71.32 or later to resolve the issue. For Google Chrome versions prior to 51.0.2704.63, update to version 51.0.2704.63 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the execution of crafted JavaScript code until a patch is applied.
