CVE-2016-3210

CVSS v2.0

9.3

High

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Internet Explorer 11
Description The issue is caused by a buffer overflow in the Microsoft JScript and VBScript engines used in Internet Explorer. This can be exploited by a remote attacker using a specially crafted web site, potentially allowing them to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption). The vulnerabilities can corrupt memory in such a way that an attacker could execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user. If the current user has administrative rights, the attacker could take control of the affected system, install programs, view, change, or delete data, or create new accounts with full user rights.
Recommendations For Internet Explorer 11, consider disabling the JScript and VBScript engines as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to potentially vulnerable web sites to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using Internet Explorer for sensitive operations until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
