CVE-2016-3297

CVSS v3.1

8.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 9 through 11 Microsoft Edge (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to errors in the code of Microsoft browsers, allowing a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption) via a specially crafted web site. Multiple remote code execution vulnerabilities exist in the way that Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer handle objects in memory, potentially corrupting memory and enabling an attacker to execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user. If the current user has administrative user rights, a successful exploitation could allow the attacker to take control of the affected system, install programs, view, change, or delete data, or create new accounts with full user rights.
Recommendations For Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 9 through 11: Update to a version that is not affected by this issue. For Microsoft Edge: At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
