CVE-2016-7203

CVSS v2.0

7.6

High

VectorAV:N/AC:H/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Microsoft Edge (affected versions not specified) Microsoft browsers (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to a lack of protection for internal data in Microsoft Edge, which can be exploited by a remote attacker using a specially crafted website to access the "My Documents" folder. Additionally, there is a remote code execution issue in Microsoft scripting engines when handling objects in memory, potentially allowing an attacker to execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user. If the user has administrative rights, the attacker could take control of the system, install programs, view, change, or delete data, or create new accounts with full user rights.
Recommendations For Microsoft Edge, consider restricting access to sensitive folders like "My Documents" until a fix is available. For Microsoft browsers, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling scripting engines or restricting their use until a patch is available. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
