CVE-2016-10044

CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 4.7.7
Description The issue is related to the aio mount function in fs/aio.c, which does not properly restrict execute access. This allows a local attacker to bypass intended SELinux W^X policy restrictions and gain privileges via an io setup system call.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions prior to 4.7.7, update to version 4.7.7 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the io setup system call to minimize the risk of exploitation.
