CVE-2016-4450

CVSS v2.0

7.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions nginx versions 1.10.0 through 1.10.1 nginx versions 1.11.x before 1.11.1
Description The issue is related to a NULL pointer dereference in the os/unix/ngx files.c component of the nginx platform. This can be exploited by a remote attacker to cause a denial of service, resulting in a worker process crash. The exploitation involves writing a client request body to a temporary file using a crafted request.
Recommendations For nginx versions 1.10.0 through 1.10.1, update to version 1.10.1 or later. For nginx versions 1.11.x before 1.11.1, update to version 1.11.1 or later. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the os/unix/ngx files.c component to minimize the risk of exploitation.
