CVE-2016-6302
CVSS v2.0
7.8
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
OpenSSL versions prior to 1.1.0
Description
The issue is related to the
tls decrypt ticket function in ssl/t1 lib.c, which does not properly validate the ticket length, considering the HMAC size. This allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service by providing a ticket that is too short. The vulnerability can be exploited by attempting to use a malformed ticket, leading to a denial of service.Recommendations
For versions prior to 1.1.0, update to version 1.1.0 or later to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
tls decrypt ticket function until a patch is available.Fix
