CVE-2016-5114

CVSS v2.0

9.4

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions PHP versions prior to 5.5.31 PHP versions 5.6.x prior to 5.6.17 PHP versions 7.x prior to 7.0.2
Description The issue is caused by a buffer overflow in the sapi/fpm/fpm/fpm log.c component of the PHP interpreter. This can be exploited by a remote attacker to disclose protected information or cause a denial of service. The vulnerability is triggered by misinterpreting the semantics of the snprintf return value, allowing attackers to obtain sensitive information from process memory or cause an out-of-bounds read and buffer overflow via a long string, such as a long URI in a configuration with custom REQUEST URI logging.
Recommendations For PHP versions prior to 5.5.31, update to version 5.5.31 or later. For PHP versions 5.6.x prior to 5.6.17, update to version 5.6.17 or later. For PHP versions 7.x prior to 7.0.2, update to version 7.0.2 or later.
