Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 4.0.5
Description
The issue is related to the fs pin implementation in the Linux kernel, which does not ensure the internal consistency of a certain list data structure. This allows local users with user-namespace root access to cause a denial of service, resulting in a system crash, by leveraging an MNT DETACH umount2 system call. The issue is related to the fs/fs pin.c and include/linux/fs pin.h files.
Recommendations
For Linux kernel versions prior to 4.0.5, update to version 4.0.5 or later to resolve the issue.
