CVE-2015-8702

CVSS v3.1

8.6

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions InspIRCd versions prior to 2.0.19
Description The issue allows remote DNS servers to cause a denial of service, also known as a netsplit, by sending an invalid character in a PTR response. This can be triggered by a specific character, such as a whitespace character, in a hostname.
Recommendations For versions prior to 2.0.19, update to version 2.0.19 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting DNS responses to prevent invalid characters from causing a denial of service.
