CVE-2016-1232

CVSS v3.1

7.5

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Prosody versions prior to 0.9.9
Description The issue concerns the mod dialback module, which does not properly generate random values for the secret token used in server-to-server dialback authentication. This weakness makes it easier for attackers to spoof servers via a brute force attack.
Recommendations For versions prior to 0.9.9, update to version 0.9.9 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the mod dialback module to minimize the risk of exploitation.
