CVE-2016-1924

CVSS v3.1

6.5

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions OpenJpeg version 2016.1.18
Description The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in an out-of-bounds read and application crash, via a crafted JPEG 2000 image. This is due to a problem in the opj tgt reset function.
Recommendations For OpenJpeg version 2016.1.18, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling the use of the opj tgt reset function until a patch is available. Restrict the processing of JPEG 2000 images from untrusted sources to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
