| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:N/I:H/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
WordPress versions prior to 4.4.2
Description
The issue allows remote attackers to redirect users to arbitrary web sites and conduct phishing attacks via a malformed URL that triggers incorrect hostname parsing. For example, an https://example.com URL can be used to demonstrate this issue.
Recommendations
For versions prior to 4.4.2, update to version 4.4.2 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the wp validate redirect function in wp-includes/pluggable.php to minimize the risk of exploitation.
