CVE-2016-2543

CVSS v3.1

6.2

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 4.4.1
Description The issue allows local users to cause a denial of service via a crafted ioctl call. This is due to the snd seq ioctl remove events function not verifying FIFO assignment before proceeding with FIFO clearing, resulting in a NULL pointer dereference and OOPS.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions prior to 4.4.1, update to version 4.4.1 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the snd seq ioctl remove events function to minimize the risk of exploitation.
