CVE-2016-3137

CVSS v2.0

4.9

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 4.5.1
Description The issue allows physically proximate attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in a NULL pointer dereference and system crash, via a USB device without both an interrupt-in and an interrupt-out endpoint descriptor. This is related to the cypress generic port probe and cypress open functions.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions prior to 4.5.1, update to version 4.5.1 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of USB devices without both an interrupt-in and an interrupt-out endpoint descriptor to minimize the risk of exploitation.
