CVE-2016-3501

CVSS v3.1

6.5

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Oracle MySQL versions 5.6.30 and earlier Oracle MySQL versions 5.7.12 and earlier
Description The issue affects the availability of the system, allowing remote authenticated users to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of MySQL Server via vectors related to Server: Optimizer. This can be exploited by a high-privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols.
Recommendations For Oracle MySQL versions 5.6.30 and earlier, update to a version later than 5.6.30 to resolve the issue. For Oracle MySQL versions 5.7.12 and earlier, update to a version later than 5.7.12 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Server: Optimizer component to minimize the risk of exploitation.
