CVE-2016-4480

CVSS v3.1

8.4

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Xen versions 4.6.x and earlier
Description The issue arises from the guest walk tables function in arch/x86/mm/guest walk.c, which does not properly handle the Page Size (PS) page table entry bit at the L4 and L3 page table levels. This could potentially allow local guest OS users to gain privileges via a crafted mapping of memory.
Recommendations For Xen versions 4.6.x and earlier, consider applying a patch that fixes the guest walk tables function to properly handle the Page Size (PS) page table entry bit. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
