CVSS v3.1

5.9

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Wireshark versions prior to 2.0.6
Description The issue is related to the IPMI trace dissector in Wireshark, where it does not properly handle strings, allowing remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in a use-after-free and application crash via a crafted packet.
Recommendations For versions prior to 2.0.6, update to version 2.0.6 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the IPMI trace dissector until a patch is available.
