7.1

High

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:N/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 4.5.3
Description The issue allows local users to obtain sensitive information from kernel memory or cause a denial of service. This is due to the assoc array insert into terminal node function in lib/assoc array.c not checking whether a slot is a leaf, leading to an invalid pointer dereference and out-of-bounds read. The keyutils test suite demonstrates this issue.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions prior to 4.5.3, update to version 4.5.3 or later to resolve the issue.
