Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
BMC Patrol versions prior to 9.13.10.02
Description
The issue allows local users to elevate their privileges to root due to the
listguests64 binary being configured with the setuid bit. When executed, it searches for the virsh binary using the PATH environment variable and runs it with root privileges.Recommendations
For versions prior to 9.13.10.02, update to version 9.13.10.02 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
listguests64 binary to minimize the risk of exploitation.Exploit
