CVE-2016-9448

CVSS v3.1

7.5

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions LibTiff version 4.0.6
Description The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in a crash due to a NULL pointer dereference. This is achieved by setting specific tags, such as TIFF SETGET C16ASCII or TIFF SETGET C32 ASCII, to values that access 0-byte arrays. The problem exists because of an incomplete fix for a previous issue.
Recommendations For LibTiff version 4.0.6, consider applying a patch or update that fully addresses the incomplete fix. As a temporary workaround, restrict the use of the TIFFFetchNormalTag function to minimize the risk of exploitation.
